Lorac Beauty & the Beast Cheek Palette - Review & Swatches

Real talk: I've actually never watched the Beauty & the Beast movie... I've watched the theatrical performance, though! I'm certainly missing out, and I know this, but after the spectacular performance I saw of "Be Our Guest", I don't think the Disney movie will compare. Fireworks don't shoot out of the TV like they did on the stage. I'll give it a chance at some point.

What I do know is that Beauty & the Beast is timeless, and I'm sure the remake had to happen for a reason. I can't exactly wrap my head around Emma Watson playing anything except Hermoine, but what I can get behind is the gorgeous makeup collection that Lorac released to celebrate the movie. I love everything about it already, but unfortunately nothing spoke to me very much except for the Cheek palette. So I picked it up and I decided it would be a perfect product to review!

OVERVIEW:

So... I bought the cheek palette at Kohl's for $28, you can get it there too. I also got a free Lorac Pro + Fiber mascara mini with my purchase that I'm absolutely in love with. Even though the mascara treat was nice and I was so happy I found the palette, I couldn't help but loathe my Kohl's makeup counter experience. So because I'm a makeup sleuth right down to the process of shopping for it, I have a quick story time before I get into the review...

At first I was greeted by a lovely woman who let me know about the Lorac promotion and gave a couple of her inputs on products from both The Balm Cosmetics and Lorac. I politely said "Thank you," and continued my shopping. The thing is, she wouldn't leave, she wouldn't leave me alone, and I felt very uncomfortable the entire time I was there. I felt as though I was being stared down and like if I made one wrong move she'd call the Kohl's police on me. I'm not sure what her deal was, but from now on I'll be shopping online to cut out the feeling of being watched.

Anyway, awful shopping experience, beautiful product packaging, and very unique. I'm absolutely in love with fact that this is a vertical case instead of something horizontal or squared. The fine detail that is on the box, on the case, and in the mirror is absolutely exquisite. Lorac really knows how to pay attention to detail when it comes to their movie themed collections, and this one is no exception. Not to mention, this is probably one of the most sturdy palettes I have, which is saying a lot. Overall, the aesthetic it gives off, the idea with the rose and it being an incorporation of petals is a big plus to me. So far so good!

SWATCHES:

Oh my gosh am I in love with the texture! The blushes swatch wonderfully; they're super soft and PACKED with pigment. These blushes are not for the faint of heart, so either go lightly or be prepared for the rosiest cheeks you've ever had! One drawback of this palette is how dark a couple of the blushes are, and the light shimmer that comes off of them (See Beyond & Rose). I found that they show off too much skin texture and exaggerates pores where you don't want them exaggerated. However, I think the matte blush is just a little too pale, even for my skin. The perfect blush for me isn't too rosy, has a light shine, and is more salmon than anything. I think that I could get used to wearing See Beyond and Enchanted, but it'll take some time for me to look at it and feel completely comfortable.

With the three blushes comes a gorgeous natural gold highlighter that provides a BLINDING finish when swatched. I used it as a topper on Enchanted and it worked wonders on the look that I was wearing. Do not let the texture fool you! It's a very grainy and rough highlighter to swatch but the payoff is incredible. This is a wonderful daily highlighter that doesn't take your look over the top, but definitely gives off a glow that you're probably looking for. If you're anything like me, glow is everything, and this palette is far less than shy of it.

SUMMARY:

I think that for $28 this is an incredible find! The palette is magnificent, loaded with pigment, and packaged in the most enchanting way. The gorgeous aesthetic and the complimentary colors are great on most every skin tone, so there's definitely a blush in the palette to work for you. The highlighter is definitely the touch that it needed to push it onto my must-have list! I don't think that I'll be using all of the blushes, but I definitely will get my use out of at least two of the blushes and one of the highlighters.

As always, thank you so much for taking time to read my review and see the swatches! I hope this helped if you were conflicted!

You can always check out the looks I create with this palette on my beauty Instagram @Lys_Glitz, so go follow and let me know!

I hope you have a wonderful day or night! Until next time!

xoxo,
Lys

LIFEPROOF LIPSTICK??? - LipSense Review & MEET JODIE

Sometimes, I wake up to some pretty crazy DMs and e-mails from distributors in the Multi-Level-Marketing business. "You look BEAUTIFUL - buy my product!" "Be a tester for this really crazy trial that we don't mention you get charged for later!" The list goes on and on.. I've heard every speech there is and every excuse to get me to buy, but I continually said no due to the almost repetitive vibe that came off of the distributors. Bottom line, they were focused on making a sale and not speaking to the need of the customer. Soliciting at its finest, I suppose. As someone studying multi-million dollar business management and  seeing the unethical and unprofessional marketing ploys that these distributors held, I became appalled quickly. With the continuous scripts being sent in my direction, I decided it was time to turn away from MLM companies and closet them until another blog decided to take the bait and review the products, get sucked into the scheme...

LEAKED NUDES - My Top 5 Nude Lipsticks

Honestly - who doesn't love a good nude? I know that I used to be out of the majority and hate them. It wasn't anything to do with how they looked on other people, it was how they looked on me. For the longest time, I could NOT pull off a nude lipstick to save my life. But I realized that it takes a little digging to find exactly what you want, so I did exactly that and found a pile of beautiful nude lipsticks that have changed my life! In fact, I found so many that I was able to take them and compile a list for someone who had just as many struggles as me in finding the perfect nude lipstick Here are my 5 nude lipsticks that I couldn't live without! 1. RETAIL THERAPY OVERLOAD - August Favorites

I feel as though no matter what happens, I'm always going to want more when it comes to makeup. "Best lipstick ever?" Well sign me up, but I want this other lipstick too. "MIRACLE FACE MASK??" Great, I also want this other one. Long story short, I spend so much time looking for the next best grab that I often forget to give notice to the makeup that I already have that I've been absolutely in love with this month. I figured with all of the constant hype about the next best thing, I would take a minute to wind down from my obsession with makeup hunting and acknowledge what beauty products have got me through August that I totally recommend if you haven't tried them already. 1. Milk Makeup - Blur Liquid Matte Foundation ($40) If you've read my previous post on this foundation, you already know how much I love it. Influenster was sweet enough to send me two bottles of the new Milk Makeup Blur Liquid Matte Foundation to try and review for fr...
