Honestly - who doesn't love a good nude? I know that I used to be out of the majority and hate them. It wasn't anything to do with how they looked on other people, it was how they looked on me. For the longest time, I could NOT pull off a nude lipstick to save my life. But I realized that it takes a little digging to find exactly what you want, so I did exactly that and found a pile of beautiful nude lipsticks that have changed my life! In fact, I found so many that I was able to take them and compile a list for someone who had just as many struggles as me in finding the perfect nude lipstick
Here are my 5 nude lipsticks that I couldn't live without!
1. Anastasia Beverly Hills - Matte Lipstick (Buff, $18)
I swear, there is no lip "stick" formula that I've been more in love with than I have this ABH one. Buff is an absolute showstopper with rich pigment, one swipe coverage, and a long wear time. The color is a beautiful rose-nude that can add that extra plump look to any of your looks. Though it can and will transfer, I've wore this through a date night with Vlad at Buffalo Wild Wings (they have awesome mushrooms by the way 😉) and it stayed put. There was no need to reapply and no smearing all around my face. A big bonus is the matte finish and how hydrating it stays, so you don't have to worry about the lipstick drying you out!
2. MAC - Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick (Burnt Spice, $21)
Another Buffalo Wild Wings approved lipstick, MAC's Retro Matte LL's will NOT come off unless you want them to. They've survived 8 hours of talking, laughing, eating, and kissing and have held up like a champ. The color of Burnt Spice is the perfect grey-peach nude that you can wear for every day looks or glam nights out. Not to mention, the applicator is so unique that it holds enough product in it for a full application! You definitely get your moneys worth with MAC.
3. LipSense - First Love (Lipstick - $25, Starter Kit $55)
I've got to give another shout-out to my girl, Jodie! Not only did I find someone to partner with while showing off this lipstick, but also a friend. First Love is probably one of my favorite nudes to date - the color is a gorgeous natural nude that looks like you're barely wearing lipstick. The pink-undertones it gives off provides the kiss of pink you need to completely brighten up your makeup but not so much that you're going out with a dramatic lipstick. I also love the Glossy Gloss topper it comes with, because as of lately matte drying lipsticks haven't been my go-to. So not only is it beautiful and long wearing, but also hydrating! You can find Jodie at @aceofshades.jc or connect with her Facebook page Ace Of Shades!
4. Ciaté London - Liquid Velvet (Swoon, $19)
If you love orange nudes this is the shade for you! One thing that I think when it comes to liquid lipsticks is that Ciaté is so under appreciated. First of all, they are under $20 which is awesome for a high-end liquid lipstick. Second, they are all around wonderful. The Liquid Velvet formula has a cream/whipped texture that doesn't dry down, but looks matte. While it does transfer, it acts similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick where it won't all transfer off at once. You can get through a meal while wearing this, but you will have to touch up. I think that for a nude, this is one that adds a perfect pout which you can freely overline your lips with (if you so desire) because it's so pigmented that it looks natural. This will always be one of my staple favorite lipsticks as well as nude lipsticks.
5. Marc Jacobs - Le Marc Lipstick (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, $30)
We're heading over to luxury lipsticks to talk about Marc Jacobs for a moment. Some of you may know this, and others may not, but Marc Jacobs is one of my favorite fashion & beauty designers. I am always checking their website to see what kinds of looks they are coming up with. I know that Kiss Kiss Bang Bang isn't necessarily a nude - it's more of a rosy hot pink - but this is probably the best lipstick to use as a nude stain. I personally like to take a little onto my lips and dab it around to give a natural and healthy looking appearance to my makeup. It definitely brightens up my anything I wear and offers a more friendly invitation to socialize when I wear it, as well as gives a nice satin look. Do I think that you need to go spend $30 on a lipstick when you can find a dupe at Wal-Mart for $5? No, but this was part of the free Sephora birthday gift a couple of years ago and I love it.
