RETAIL THERAPY OVERLOAD - August Favorites

I feel as though no matter what happens, I'm always going to want more when it comes to makeup. "Best lipstick ever?" Well sign me up, but I want this other lipstick too. "MIRACLE FACE MASK??" Great, I also want this other one. Long story short, I spend so much time looking for the next best grab that I often forget to give notice to the makeup that I already have that I've been absolutely in love with this month. I figured with all of the constant hype about the next best thing, I would take a minute to wind down from my obsession with makeup hunting and acknowledge what beauty products have got me through August that I totally recommend if you haven't tried them already.

1. Milk Makeup - Blur Liquid Matte Foundation ($40)

If you've read my previous post on this foundation, you already know how much I love it. Influenster was sweet enough to send me two bottles of the new Milk Makeup Blur Liquid Matte Foundation to try and review for free and needless to say, it was love at first application. This foundation blends in to the skin so seamlessly, looks absolutely stunning when applied, gives a nice radiance to the skin while also mattifying, smells like lemons, and gives a full coverage veil. I took this with me while traveling to my boyfriend's and I also have been using it every time I create a look. I cannot express just how much I truly love it for my all-day-every-day foundation.

2. Glitter Injections - Pressed Glitter ($12.99)

I've had 4 different pans of the Pressed Glitters from Glitter Injections sitting around for a long time and little did I know I'd be reaching for them almost every time I put on makeup this month. The Pressed Glitters (especially shades Cotton Candy and Insta Love) have been my savior for completing my looks. (Check out my beauty IG @Lys_Glitz to see all the looks I've created recently using these!) They're beautiful, they apply nicely without glitter glue, and they make any look go from 0 to 100 almost instantly.

3. Lorac - Pro + Fiber Mascara ($24)

OMG, OMG, OMG! If there was one thing I didn't expect to fall in love with this month, it was mascara. For forever, Urban Decay's Perversion has been my absolute holy grail for amazing looking lashes without falsies, but I'm confident that this mascara from Lorac has taken its place. I have never tried a fiber mascara before in my life - and honestly thought Younique was the only brand to sell one - but I received a free sample from Kohl's a while ago and I thought I'd give it a chance. The drama that comes from the mascara is unreal. My eyelashes look like they don't need falsies when I'm wearing it. There is a bit of black transfer that can happen but it's nothing so dramatic that it ruins the look entirely. I absolutely recommend picking it up and trying it for yourself to see the amazing difference.

4. NYX - Glitter Brilliance ($6)

Okay, everyone and their mother has used NYX glitters, I know. I'm very late to the party with this one so I'll keep it short and sweet. I think that for 2.5 grams of glitter, it's very overpriced - I also think that I'll be buying it again because I need more colors ASAP. Even compared to Glitter Injections, I love how finely milled these glitters are and how diverse they are. I have two different shades - Rose and Silver - and I've mixed them together, I've used them alone, I'm just very obsessed. You can really make a statement with these glitters, and that has me sold.

5. House of Lashes x Sephora - Cécile ($14)

I don't know what it is, but lately I've had this super huge obsession with false lashes and now my looks feel naked without them. Because I've learned how to apply them better, I've graduated from packs of 5 Kiss brand lashes to purchasing some better quality ones at Sephora. I was digging through the "Before You Go" section - you know, that absolutely demonic hole towards the register with all of the mini products that say keep saying "Buy me! Buy me!" and eventually you're sucked in with $75 worth of more products you don't need? Yeah.... that place. Anyway, I picked these up and they have officially changed my life. What's unique about these lashes - at least to me as a lash novice - is that these are stacked lashes. That means that there's two layers of lashes which adds extra dimension for added drama. I could go on and on about this set, but I think you get it - I'm obsessed.

Here's the part where I shamelessly talk about 3 Anastasia Beverly Hills products....

6. Anastasia Beverly Hills - Matte Lipstick ($18)

There's been so much hype about these lipsticks on the Anastasia Beverly Hills Instagram page that you would think that these are otherworldly. I'm sure there's going to be a few people who argue that these are nothing to write home about with all of the lipsticks out now, and I would agree that they have a point. However, I bought the shade Buff at Ulta the other day and instantly fell in love. The color is like... my perfect nude shade so of course there's a special relationship I have with it (if you didn't know, I'm a super pale person and finding a nude that suits me is like finding a needle in a haystack). It's a very comfortable wear, it glides on, and it's bursting with pigment. I love how these are one-swipe coverage - because who has time to waste on getting lipstick perfect? I also love the stick formula of it, because lately I've been so tired of matte liquid lips and how drying they feel. This is a comfortable lipstick that I can wear any time so it has my recommendation.

7. Anastasia Beverly Hills - DipBrow Pomade ($18)

This is yet another product I'm late to the party with. I spent so much time in the E.l.f section of Wal-Mart debating if it was really worth the buy, as I picked up yet another Brow Kit and Brow Pencil. I have to say, the transition from a $3 brow product to a $18 brow product was HUGE. Never in my life have I had such little trouble with my brows and never have I seen so much pigment (as per the ABH unspoken rules, everything is hyper-pigmented). I managed to have an eyebrow on and ready in under a minute, so that speaks volumes to me. The minimal amount of product needed and the fact that it dries completely matte are also added bonuses to me. Never have I ever felt like I had more "natural" or full-glam brows in my life.

8. Anastasia Beverly Hills - Cream Contour Kit ($40)

I'm gonna take a minute and be completely real; I bought this during the Weekly Wow sale for $20 without looking at the colors, just knowing it was my skin type and that I needed new contour products. This is an amazing pick-up for someone like me, who is always struggling to find something suitable for softer or more dramatic looks, but doesn't want to pay a hefty price tag. The concealer/brightening shades are perfect for both higher and lower points of the face, the contour shades are perfect for adding depth to the hollow areas, and it's refillable which is such a bonus to me. I'm very happy that I'll never have to buy another big palette for contouring ever again. The only downside to me is I'm not a fan of cream shimmer highlights, so Lustre is nearly useless for me. That doesn't mean I won't find ways to use it, but for now I'm still thinking.

9. Shea Moisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Radiance Mud Mask ($2.50-$2.99)

If you ever need a pick-me-up in a face mask, this is the absolute best grab you can get on a budget. I'm beyond obsessed with this face mask for removing dead skin and restoring the natural glow in my face that I feel like I lose at times. I don't use the mask often, but I love to use it every other week and keep my skin balanced and bright. Again, if you need something that works for a budget, pick up a packet and try it out.

This was an extremely long post, I know. I try to keep things short and sweet, but when I truly love a product, I can't help but elaborate on it. "We get it, it's good," is the general reaction as I continue to talk ears off on how obsessed I am. I hope that my continuous rants and raves help you find something that you can incorporate into your next favorites or a holy grail that lasts you a lifetime.

xoxo,
Lys

LIFEPROOF LIPSTICK??? - LipSense Review & MEET JODIE

Sometimes, I wake up to some pretty crazy DMs and e-mails from distributors in the Multi-Level-Marketing business. "You look BEAUTIFUL - buy my product!" "Be a tester for this really crazy trial that we don't mention you get charged for later!" The list goes on and on.. I've heard every speech there is and every excuse to get me to buy, but I continually said no due to the almost repetitive vibe that came off of the distributors. Bottom line, they were focused on making a sale and not speaking to the need of the customer. Soliciting at its finest, I suppose. As someone studying multi-million dollar business management and  seeing the unethical and unprofessional marketing ploys that these distributors held, I became appalled quickly. With the continuous scripts being sent in my direction, I decided it was time to turn away from MLM companies and closet them until another blog decided to take the bait and review the products, get sucked into the scheme

2017 WRAP UP IN MAKEUP - BEST & WORST OF THE YEAR

Before I get into this, can you believe that 2017 is over? I remember spending Valentine's day with my boyfriend and then all of a sudden - poof! The holidays are over and we're counting down from 10. I'll let you know that my holiday was amazing - I spent it cuddled up with Vlad, duh... It was the first time I spent this time away from my family, and while it was a bit scary, I got acclimated fast and enjoyed every moment. Anyway, this isn't about the holidays, this is about the makeup of the year. I wanted to give everyone a list of what I was blown away by this year and stuck with longer than I expected, and what I trashed, donated, or took back almost immediately. Without further adieu.... let's get started with the best: 1. Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette This palette was totally left field for me, because I wanted absolutely nothing to do with Jaclyn Hill or endorsing her in any way. Admittedly, I don't like the way she presents herself and never re
