If I had to choose only one beauty product to have for the rest of my life, it would be lipstick. I have been absolutely obsessed with lipstick ever since my mom handed me a ruby red Revlon lipstick when I was younger. As I got older, I was an avid collector of Lip Smackers and just had to find them all. One thing led to another and now I have a giant collection of lipsticks.
With that being said, f you know me, you know why I'm excited. I absolutely love Jeffree Star Cosmetics. The Velour Liquid Lipsticks are incredible, the highlighters are stunning, and the eyeshadow palettes... amazing. That's why I was extremely happy when I saw that Jeffree Star Cosmetics released two lipstick bundles for their summer collection. One includes all 8 Velour Liquid Lipstick shades and all 5 Lip Ammunition shades for $195, and another called the You. Better. Work. bundle which contains just the 8 Velour Liquid Lipsticks for $105. Because I'm not the biggest fan of the Lip Ammunitions, I opted for the smaller set.
OVERVIEW:
The inside of the bundle is GORGEOUS. I can't get over just how beautifully the lipsticks are packaged and how durable the packaging is either! You can certainly keep the box, because it's made sturdy and the inner packing is a nice quality foam. Just be careful around the bundle, because the case will get dirty and stain.
While the lipsticks came with the lipstick boxes for Jeffree Star's collection, I decided to leave them out in this photo so you could also see the colors! Of course, the entirety of the packaging is pink chrome, and it can get dirty fast as well, so be careful with how you keep them if you care about packaging. That's besides the point though: I think that the array of shades and their purposes are very versatile and some shades can lead you right into fall. I absolutely thing Calabasas, Hunty, Family Jewels would be perfect year round.
REVIEW/SWATCHES:
Before I get into much, let me talk about this; Whether you like or dislike Jeffree, I think it's worth acknowledging that when he talks about makeup - even his own - he gives the pros and cons and tries to make his opinions as honest as possible. I think its very normal for someone to not see his video when he announces the lipsticks and swatches them, but for anyone who missed it, I'll link it below:

This review is unfortunately going to be very short because there isn't much to say. Because people probably hadn't caught wind of his notes, there have been previous rumors about the liquid lipsticks alleging that the formula is a lot more streaky than his typical Velour Liquid Lips. Jeffree recognized that his liquid lipstick formula is very beautiful and comfortable, while he also acknowledged that some shades are difficult to make in labs and that his product will not be up to par, just that they were the best that he could have done.
While I fully understand that, I'm going to swatch the lipsticks and we can get some true insight to how they feel and look:
The lipsticks are very streaky; While I was expecting to see some problems in Venus Flytrap and You. Better. Work., I didn't expect to see them in Family Jewels or Calabasas. I feel as though these colors, or ones similar to these, have already been perfected to their best in his labs and that having a slight pigment change shouldn't have fixed the formula to be streaky.
Aside from the mattes, I absolutely love the colors of the metallics. They are truly a treat to see in the bundle, because I believe these would be excellent lip toppers or a great addition on one of the matte shades for a little metallic ombre. I also am very much in love with the scent. Jeffree infused his metallics with the scent of fresh strawberries, and it makes me so happy! I feel like I want to eat this, but I know better.
SUMMARY:
So, Jeffree, what happened? I've never received a single streaky shade from the collections prior and so this was a shocking first. I assumed a few shades would have been a little funky, but I didn't think that a majority of the collection would be weird.
Besides the streaky formula, the lipsticks were lightweight to apply. For once, adding a second layer to these lipsticks didn't make any difference in the consistency of the product, which was a major surprise to me. They feel comfortable, they wear nicely, they just streak terribly and that's the only issue I can think of. I definitely feel as though if you are going to buy the bundle, be sure that you're going to like at least 6 of the shades. Divided out, you're paying for about 5 1/2 lipsticks and I think that that's a great value including the cost of the box as well. If anything, be sure that one nude and Venus Flytrap, or both of the nudes are of your interest. Jeffree has it set up to where the nudes fit best with a pale complexion with pink-neutral undertones (Butt Naked) and a medium complexion with warm undertones (Hunty). You will certainly get your value out of the bundle so long as you've got some use planned for a select few of the shades. Otherwise, they cost $18 each and are still available on Jeffree's website which I will also link down below!
