Jodie is back and at it again! This time with a limited edition black LipSense known as Blackberry which to my knowledge is also the only black lipstick that you can have a glossy finish on without smears or smudges. I'm very excited that I was able to get my hands on one from her stock because they are very limited and also were discontinued for an extended period of time. SeneGence decided to bring the color back for Halloween and every distributor I saw went WILD. It was honestly the biggest celebration and rejoice of lipstick I have witnessed since Jeffree Star started his brand.

I consider myself a self-proclaimed queen of black lipstick. Any time I see a new brand come out with a black lipstick and it hits the shelf, I will spare no expense to go out of my way, find it, and see if it's "the" black lipstick of my dreams. Currently, my favorite is Witches by Kat Von D, but I'm very disappointed that I can't put a lip gloss over top of the shade without it lifting from my lips and completely turning into a grey glossy goo (try saying that five times fast).

A few months ago, Miss Jodie introduced me to LipSense - a lip "bond" that requires a specialized gloss topper (don't worry, there ARE matte glosses) to create a seal that doesn't let the lipstick budge. This allows the lipstick to be super duper long wearing and only requires you to bring along the gloss to retouch when it starts to dry out. I speak more on how LipSense works and my first impressions on another post - you can click here to read it. Spoiler alert, I absolutely loved it.

Of course when I saw this color, my desires took control and I had to reach out and get it. I was even more excited that I had an opportunity to make the color glossy without it turning into a mud on my lips. A short three days later, I was beyond excited to see my package in the mail with a lip gloss that I actually won through a random drawing. In my typical fashion, I decided to choose the Silver Glitter gloss.

GLITTER GLOSS REVIEW:

I want to make this review as quick as possible because there isn't much to speak on that I haven't addressed in my previous blog post. I will say that I am less of a fan of the silver glitter gloss because the glitter transfer is certainly there, and if there's one thing I dislike, it is seeing the gloss transfer. This doesn't mean it's bad by any means, but it does make it more of a specialty gloss than a daily wear.... says the girl who chose black lipstick as her go-to for a few years of her life... Other than that, the glitter isn't chunky and you don't feel any gritty texture from wearing it. Overall, I'd say this is perfect for the holidays, your birthday, and date nights.

LIP COLOR REVIEW:

Now let's move on to the star of the show, the Blackberry LipSense. As I've mentioned before, there is a process when you go to apply your LipSense, from the positioning of your mouth to how much you coat at a time, it can become tedious but definitely not the worst thing in the world. With how much time is spent applying and fixing a regular liquid matte, I'm actually spending about the same time with LipSense. I do think that Blackberry is a lot less opaque and far more streaky, which could cause you to apply a coat 4 or 5. Do I think that's the end of the world? I've seen and used far worse black lipsticks that you couldn't fill in because it was either a satin finish or just that thin. At least Blackberry lets you go back and fix any areas that look patchy without adding any extra weight to the product on the lips.

I want to warn anyone who is wanting to try this color, black is a very unforgiving shade from every and any lip brand. Whether it's because there is no good way to remove it or because it likes to stain the lips, it is going to give some problems to some degree. With Blackberry LipSense, my suggestion would be to never overdraw your lips and make sure that you get every detail right. Once you apply the gloss, you can't really go over top of it. So, like all black lipsticks, it's finicky but worth it. For anyone else, I'm sure that this is going to be a Halloween exclusive shade. To someone like me, it can be for grocery shopping, going to the club, a trip to Starbucks so you can freak out the baristas with your lip staying power, or other casual outings. 😜

FINAL THOUGHTS:

As always, I'm nothing but amazed by the staying power and the beautiful color output of LipSense. The gloss is absolutely gorgeous and exactly what I needed for the holiday season. Major thanks and props to Jodie for the amazing products and always selling them with honesty and a smile. If you'd like to see the full review on LipSense as a whole, my post "LIFEPROOF LIPSTICK???" will provide all the details on how it's applied, how long it lasts, and how you can get your hands on some as well!

xoxo,
Lys

LIFEPROOF LIPSTICK??? - LipSense Review & MEET JODIE

Sometimes, I wake up to some pretty crazy DMs and e-mails from distributors in the Multi-Level-Marketing business. "You look BEAUTIFUL - buy my product!" "Be a tester for this really crazy trial that we don't mention you get charged for later!" The list goes on and on.. I've heard every speech there is and every excuse to get me to buy, but I continually said no due to the almost repetitive vibe that came off of the distributors. Bottom line, they were focused on making a sale and not speaking to the need of the customer. Soliciting at its finest, I suppose. As someone studying multi-million dollar business management and  seeing the unethical and unprofessional marketing ploys that these distributors held, I became appalled quickly. With the continuous scripts being sent in my direction, I decided it was time to turn away from MLM companies and closet them until another blog decided to take the bait and review the products, get sucked into the scheme

2017 WRAP UP IN MAKEUP - BEST & WORST OF THE YEAR

Before I get into this, can you believe that 2017 is over? I remember spending Valentine's day with my boyfriend and then all of a sudden - poof! The holidays are over and we're counting down from 10. I'll let you know that my holiday was amazing - I spent it cuddled up with Vlad, duh... It was the first time I spent this time away from my family, and while it was a bit scary, I got acclimated fast and enjoyed every moment. Anyway, this isn't about the holidays, this is about the makeup of the year. I wanted to give everyone a list of what I was blown away by this year and stuck with longer than I expected, and what I trashed, donated, or took back almost immediately. Without further adieu.... let's get started with the best: 1. Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette This palette was totally left field for me, because I wanted absolutely nothing to do with Jaclyn Hill or endorsing her in any way. Admittedly, I don't like the way she presents herself and never re
